The shielding layer of a shielded wiring harness is typically made of braided copper mesh or copper foil (aluminum) and is grounded. This allows any interfering signals to be directed to the ground, preventing them from entering the inner conductors and disrupting signal transmission, while also reducing signal loss. A shielded wiring harness typically consists of an insulation layer, a shielding layer, and conductors. Advanced shielded wiring harnesses may also include an additional shielding layer around the signal conductors and a shield grounding conductor.
